Our Team
We're just a couple of people from around the world who met in Seoul, South Korea, and became super close. Each one of our team members has unique backgrounds and experiences. We encourage you to take classes with all of us in order to expose yourself to different styles of English.
Although none of us may be a perfect teacher, as a team we can offer more than any single teacher could offer.

Nolan Cobin
What’s up guys! My name is Nolan and I’m from the US. I was born and raised in a city called Reno, which is in the state of Nevada. Nevada is a desert, but we get a lot of snow in the winter! I grew up playing soccer, skiing, and hanging out in the mountains with friends and family. After college, I moved to Japan where I worked as a scuba instructor and bicycle messenger. Three years later, I moved to Korea where I’ve been living for two years now. Before starting Bad English, I worked at an English academy. While living in Korea I noticed that there were many kids and adults here who really wanted to learn and practice English, but for different reasons couldn't find a program that fit them. I think learning a new language is one of the coolest things anyone could ever do. I’ve studied Spanish, Japanese, French, and Korean just to name a few. When I’m not teaching, you can usually find me riding my bike, eating at a Korean style buffet, or drinking with friends.
Dhenaldi Ferdinand
Heyya peeps, my name is Dhenaldi, but you can call me Denny. I’m Dutch-Indonesian. English is my native language, but I speak Dutch and Indonesian fluently. I grew up in the Netherlands and went to an international school in Utrecht. As a kid I watched a lot of Disney movies which is how I became fluent in English. Apart from the Netherlands, I’ve lived and worked in a few countries including Indonesia, Singapore, Hong Kong, the US, and now South Korea. The US would be one of my favorite places because of all the wonderful friends I made throughout my university years in California and Pennsylvania, and plus I love Chipotle! I’ve been living in Korea for a few years now. When I first came, I was working as a consultant for a Korean company, but now I’m just vibing and enjoying life. Currently I’m taking Korean language classes at Seoul National University. I love making new friends and being goofy around people. I’m also really passionate about reading poetry, listening to music, photography, and not starving to death.

Stacy Chae
Hi guys, I’m Stacy :) You can call me either Stacy or 서영. I was born in Chicago, Illinois, and came back to Korea when I was seven years old. My first language is English, but after living in Korea naturally I became fluent in Korean. These days I’m pretty much a total Korean with dual citizenship ✌🏻😂 As a kid, I was always a big fan of Disney, Pixar, and pretty much all American animations. In addition to movies, I was also into pop-songs, which helped me to learn English. I would try my best to understand the lyrics and sing them repeatedly until I had memorized them. When I became a high school student, I felt like I was losing my English, so I decided to apply for a language exchange program at a university in the US. I went in 2019 and studied there for two semesters taking various classes regardless of what my major was. I think taking debate class and fine art class helped me learn how to express myself and be confident while talking with natives again. After finishing my courses and graduating, I worked in an international bar as a part-time worker with Oli and Denny. This allowed me to maintain my English while having fun. Personally, I think the most important thing when starting to learn a new language is to have fun and get to know amazing people while sharing and expressing your thoughts freely. The key for me was not being afraid and being confident regardless of my level of speaking. More fun definitely leads to more enthusiastic interactions, and those interactions lead to fluency. Right now l’m a fashion designer at a vendor company. I love crocheting, making weird artsy stuff, and hanging out with my friends. I can only speak English and Korean, but I’m always trying my best to make time to learn more languages. I love getting to know new people and making friends, so I believe this program will benefit all of us. Hope to see y’all soon!
Oli Zhao
Hi, my name is Oli! I'm from Canada and I work in Seoul as a science teacher at an international school. I've lived in Korea for 7+ years and I'm really happy to be living here. I met Nolan while I was working as a bartender/host in Hongdae part-time. I mostly focus on work but in my free time I usually go to the gym, write, or meet friends. I grew up speaking English, Chinese, and learning French. Currently I am learning Korean as well. I love talking to and meeting people and I hope I can help you with your language journey as well!
